Amanda, a biology major, is president of the ONU chapter of the Professional Organization of Women in Science (PAWS), the sponsoring group. ONU HealthWise also assisted with the project.
She said people from as far as Columbus and Toledo participated in the fundraising walk. Heather Peaytt, Mrs. Ohio International 2018, and her husband, Dustin, were on hand and walked with the group. The ONU Marching Band played several selections before the walk began.
The center of the field house was set up with tables for local vendors, face painting, diabetic companies, nutrition displays, and pharmacy organizations. Even a food truck set up inside the Sports Center selling flavored ice.
The walk/run was originally planned for outdoors, but rained moved the event inside.
