Natalie DiPietro Mager recognized for community outreach efforts
ONU pharmacy professor Natalie DiPietro Mager is recipient of the 2019 Pharmacist Public Relations Award presented by the Ohio Pharmacists Association.
This award recognizes a pharmacist for continuous service to the community in educating the public on pharmacy-related issues and safe medicine use. It was presented during the OPA annual conference April 12-14 in Columbus.
“She is a true ambassador for the profession. With expertise in pharmacy and public health, she takes healthcare to the next level to ensure wellness and safe medication use,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA executive director.
He added: It is not out of the ordinary for pharmacists to be active in their
communities – in fact, most pharmacists are ‘go-to’ healthcare resources where they practice and live.”
The association said that Mager:
• created initiatives in a variety of venues to reduce infant mortality rates in Ohio.
• conducted extensive work to research and increase awareness on public health topics related to women’s health, as well as maternal and child health.
Her activities include participation in many organizations that address public health issues.
These include the Ohio Collaborative to Prevent Infant Mortality, Ohio Public Health Association, American Public Health Association, and the national Healthy People Curriculum Task Force of the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research.
She has also completed the Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program at Eli Lilly and Company in the Lilly Centre for Women’s Health.
She is president of the Ohio Public Health Association.
