Ada's latest news

Dear Icon Readers,

Having lived in Ada for 20 years, I can say with certainty, I never fully appreciated or realized the value and excellence of the Ada Public Library until about 5 years ago when our son was 3 years old.

We were taking a walk down Main Street and it was the annual ‘Kick Off to Summer Reading Program’ which included sponsoring groups who brought farm animals, the local police and fire departments, face painting, a book sale, a balloon artist and so much more.  On this serendipitous occasion, we signed up for Summer Reading and took our materials home to begin exploring what would be a central focus of our lives from that day, forward, literally.

Icon sports writer, Cort Reynolds, had several columns published in the SB Nation, Boston Celtics blog.

ADA - The injury-plagued Ada football team attempts to halt a two-game losing skid when it visits Crestview in week eight.

Last weekend, Crestview was outscored 34-12 in the final 20 minutes to lose 48-25 at home to league-leading Spencerville. The defeat dropped the Knights to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Northwest Conference.

Having lost three of its last four games, Ada is 2-5 and 1-3 in NWC action, placing them in a tie for sixth in the eight-team league standings with Bluffton. The Knights are knotted with Paulding in fourth.

Ohio Northern senior libero McKenna Hostetler (Plain City/Alder) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 7-13.

Hostetler helped the No. 11-ranked Polar Bears to a 4-1 record last week.

She paced ONU with 116 digs and six aces in the week.

This marks the second time this season that Hostetler received the honor.

The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday with a 7 pm OAC match at Wilmington.
