Sally Jo Hawkins was a homemaker
Sally Jo Hawkins, age 90, of Ada, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by her family.
Sally was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on January 5, 1932, to the late Grover and Virginia (Shepherd) Hicks. On February 15, 1961, Sally married Robert Ray Hawkins and he preceded her in death.
Sally was preceded in death by her son, Ron Haywood; granddaughter Hannah Hawkins; her six brothers and two sisters.
Sally is survived by her two sons: Robert R. (Ruth) Hawkins, Jr. of North Tonawanda, NY, and Jeff (Kelly) Hawkins of Cape Coral, FL; a daughter, Kim (Kris) Spangler of Ada; two sisters: Sue Nelson of Kenton and Betty (Don) Nabal of Williamsville, NY; seven grandchildren: Rob, Ryan and Reed (Aylssa) Hawkins, Kaylee (Collin Poling) and Kolton Spangler, and Louis and Roxie Haywood; three great grandchildren: Cohen and Kasen Poling, and Noa Hawkins. Also surviving is her companion, French Combs and family.
Sally was a homemaker. She loved to plant flowers and tend to her garden. Her love for her family was everlasting. She was a great mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by many.
Private family services will be held, with burial in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
