More on March 14 fire calls in Hardin County

Answering the call!
These ladies had no idea what their shift was going to be like when they sat down at their consoles on Friday, March 14th, 2025.
They came on shift at 3pm that day and had a working ditch fire on Township Road 92 that started around noon. Several resources from the West side of the county were deployed to help control the blaze. 6 fire Departments and 2 EMS agencies assisted on this fire and it was contained and cleared just before 5pm.
Shortly after shift change, Dispatchers Wood (right) and Culver (left) got a call for a field fire where more than 70 round bales of hay were on fire. This was about 5 miles away from the first fire and with many fire units already busy, Dispatchers Wood, Culver and Communications Coordinator Emily Roy (middle) had to call for resources from other counties while waiting for more local resources to divert from the first fire. This fire required response from 13 Fire Departments and the scene was wrapped up just before 1030pm.
At just before 4pm (less than an hour after the hay fire) a grass fire came in on State Route 385, just outside of Roundhead. Resources from the majority of Hardin County were tied up with other scenes, but one was able to break free and with some assistance from a department to the South, the scene was quickly under control and wrapped up at 455pm. This scene was handled with response from 2 fire departments.
At 1634, another fire was called in-a garage attached to a residence. Several out of county resources were called for right away, as local resources were freed up from the hay bale fire. Luckily all occupants and pets made it out of the residence unharmed! This fire required a response from 6 fire departments and concluded at just after 1030pm.
These ladies kept their cool, worked quickly and tirelessly keeping accountability of resources during these stressful situations, all while regular incidents and phone calls were still happening.
We are SO proud to have you working with us!
