Recap of April 15 Ada Council meeting

New Village Administrator hired with May start date
The Village of Ada Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15 with actions and discussion including electricity and gas aggregation contract decision making and the hiring of a new village administrator.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Andrew R. Tutor, a candidate for Judge of Hardin County Municipal Court on the May 6 ballot, introduced himself to council. Tutor is the current Hardin County Municipal Prosecutor. He was born and raised in Hardin County and is a third-generation attorney. He has worked in private practice for 14 years.
MAYOR
Mayor Dave Retterer announced that the Village will observe Arbor Day on April 25 with a school tree program led by Jenny Donnelly.
LEGISLATION
Council approved resolutions to allow Village Administrator Jamie Hall and Fiscal Officer Patty Navin to call emergency meetings of council for the purpose of entering into agreements with electric and gas suppliers. The opportunity to accept a proposal will likely require same-day action before the market closes.
COMMITTEES
Personnel: Council unanimously approved a motion to hire Amanda Sears as Village Administrator. The motion by Bob Simmons specified an effective date of May 12 and a starting salary of $90K. The motion position requires the new administrator to reside in Ada within six months of being hired. Village Administrator Jamie Hall is retiring in June 2025.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Alec Cooper reported that since the last council meeting, Ada officers responded to 105 calls and made 9 incident and offense reports, 2 vehicle incidents and 2 arrests. One arrest was a male sought on a warrant, the other was a woman OVI arrest.
FISCAL OFFICER
Patty Navin supplied council with a budget report ending March 31, 2025, packet pages 19-24.
ZONING INSPECTOR
Michele Chambers was not present but provided council with a report on pages 26-31 of the packet. The report shows a list of open permits during 2024 and an activity log for the first quarter of 2025.
VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR
Jamie Hall answered questions about water meter installation. He explained that residents will learn more about the Neptune 360 program after all new water meters have been installed and a couple of months of operation have passed.
Residents are notified about water meter replacement if they are home at the time.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:20 p.m.
