3 Bulldogs 1st team All-BVC softball; 6 honored
By Cort Reynolds
Three players from the highly successful Ada softball squad were named first team All-Blanchard Valley Conference in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.
Overall, five senior Bulldog girls and one sophomore were honored by the league. The 2025 team set an Ada program record for wins in a season with 22, and placed third in the 11-team BVC.
JENNA BASSITT
Bulldog senior pitcher/leadoff hitter Jenna Bassitt was named first team all-conference for the fourth straight year. Her initial three first team all-league seasons occurred while Ada was a member of the Northwest Conference.
The versatile Bassitt won 22 games as the staff ace, pitching all but a few innings of the 27 Bulldog contests. The workhorse authored a pitching record of 8-2 in BVC play, as well as a sparkling 14-3 mark in non-league action.
She broke her own record set last year for wins in a season (17) by five victories.
On offense the leadoff spark led Ada in hits, batting average, triples, runs, stolen bases and on-base pct.
NATILYN MCCLAIN
Slugging senior catcher Natilyn McClain was also voted first team all-league. She smashed a team-high nine home runs and led the club in runs batted in and slugging pct.
TESSA GRIFFITH
Senior center fielder Tessa Griffith also earned first team All-BVC honors. The cleanup batter was among the team leaders in doubles, home runs (five), RBI and batting average.
REESE JORDAN
Sophomore third/second baseman Reese Jordan made second team all-league. A clutch hitter and baserunner, she was one of the team’s better batters. She started the season at second base and moved to third due to injuries, and handled the defensive switch well.
KARLEY WAGNER
Gritty senior middle infielder Karley Wagner was named honorable mention all-conference. She was one of Ada’s top hitters and played excellent second base defense after moving over from shortstop due to hamstring and ankle injuries.
AIDRA PRESTON
Steady senior first baseman Aidra Preston made honorable mention all-league. A four-year starter, she fielded well and was an underrated hitter.
Elmwood won the BVC crown with a 10-0 record. Liberty-Benton was second at 9-1, followed by Ada in third place at 8-2.
Van Buren finished fourth (7-3) and Arcadia was fifth (6-4), while Riverdale came in fifth (5-5).
McComb ended up seventh (4-6), followed by Leipsic (3-7), Arlington (2-8), Vanlue (1-9) and Pandora-Gilboa (0-10).
Riverdale ace hurler Addie Farmer edged out Bassitt for BVC Player of the Year honors.
The 2025 Ada squad finished 22-5 and advanced to the Div. VI regional finals for the first time in program history. They shattered the team record for wins in a season set last year (18) by four victories.
