Yup, that's a state senator behind that Batman mask, a.k.a. Cliff Hite, who is reading books about superheroes to kids at the Ada Public Library on Monday afternoon.

Sen. Hite is a former teacher and coach, so interacting with children just came naturally.

Here, he gives a fist bump to Daniel Klear while others look on. Thirteen children and several mothers attended the storytime.

Sen. Hite is a Republican from Findlay and has represented this area as senator since 2011.

Food “to go” takes on new meaning after meeting Carlton Jaquess.

He’s the chef for The Cadets, and when the drum and bugle corps ends its spring training camp at Ohio Northern University on Sunday and heads toward Indianapolis to launch their summer touring season, Jacquess will go with them in his semi-trailer truck-turned-kitchen.

“It’s a gypsy-like lifestyle,” he said. “Most cooks couldn’t do this. They’d quit in the first week."

Eleven high school students attending a leadership conference on campus helped garden for four hours on Saturday at the Railroad Depot Park, including Chase Wagoner from Carey (left) and Thomas Shauk from Galion.

More than 200 students fanned out throughout the village to assist the village, homeowners, and businesses with chores.  ONU hosts the four-day HOBY conference annually in early June.

A part of each year is devoted to assisting the local community. The purpose of the conference is to teach leadership skills to outstanding youth.

The message carries a lot of weight. More than you realize.
