The Ada High School Color Guard won the award for Best Color Guard regardless of class with a score of 91 at the Tri-Valley Classic in Dresden, Ohio, on Oct. 20.They are the only color guard at any of the contests that they have competed in to earn a score of greater than 90. The band won high marks, as well.
The band and color guard also received awards for best color guard, best general effect, and best visual effects in Class C. The band earned received straight I's, being rated superior by all eight judges.

Ada-Liberty Township has an old fire truck, 10 years older than most citizens who live here. The median age of an Ada resident is 21-years-old, according to the latest Census. Ada-Liberty Township has a fire truck that is 30-years-old and the fire department wants to change that.
The Nov. 6 ballot will find a 1 mill, five-year tax levy to replace the department’s oldest truck, which equates to $100 a year for five years on property with an assessed valuation of $100,000.
OSU Extension in Hardin County is seeking the renewal of a 0.35 mill, 5-year tax levy on the Nov. 6 ballot to continue existing programs in 4H, agriculture, and family consumer science. This will generate $192,000 annually for the county programs.This costs the average homeowner $20 per year.
Some of the newer programs offered through the Extension include:
* 4H Tech Wizards, which provides weekly technology classes to Ada and Kenton students after school;
* Mental health first aid programs in Ada and Kenton with Upper Scioto Valley to join soon.
The Ada School District will hold its annual Veterans Day breakfast at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 in the school cafeteria for all veterans and their families as well as active-duty service personnel who live, work, or worship within the boundaries of the school district. The Ada Citizens Scouting Committee will collect canned goods and nonperishable items on Saturday, Oct. 27. Those wishing to donate are asked to put the bag of items on their front porch by 9 a.m. on Saturday for the Scouts to pick and give to the Ada Food Pantry. No glass items, please.
