The Blue Star Mothers are asking for your help in two ways.
• They have placed a large box in the Ada High School office hoping that members of the community will fill it with gifts to make Christmas happier for those in the military service who are serving overseas.
• Also, they would like to be informed of the names of the men and women from Hardin County who currently are stationed in a foreign land.
Local Republican candidates and volunteers will participate in a Hancock-Hardin County Republican Get-Out-The-Vote Bus Tour scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd.
Republican State Representative Candidate Jon Cross will join local Republican candidates and volunteers for the "Connecting with Communities" tour, kicking off with a breakfast at the Midway Diner in Kenton, Ohio at 8 a.m.
A special Ada Village Council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Council chambers on the second floor of the City Building, 115 W. Buckeye Ave. The meeting is to discuss the refuse contract and consider the second reading of the ordinance about the refuse collection system and regulate solid waste and recycling disposal in the village.
Ada-Liberty Township fire chief, Jay Epley, posted a YouTube video to area voters to support the Nov. 6 fire levy.
He said that the Nov. 6 ballot will find a 1 mill, five-year tax levy to replace the department’s oldest truck, which equates to $100 a year for five years on property with an assessed valuation of $100,000.

During the meeting Thursday night in Dicke Hall, Cross and two other business leaders discussed how illicit drugs affect business.
They noted that with the current high employment rate, business and industry have a more difficult time finding employees. Drug tests are required by many human resource personnel and employment agencies. Some test-takers fail, making hiring even more arduous.
Hunter Purdy and Kaitlyn Long, both Ada High School May graduates, received the FFA’s American Degree at the group’s national convention in Indianapolis last weekend.
