FINDLAY__The Ada girls wrestling team had two girls compete in the Div. III district meet at Findlay on March 8.

Bulldog junior Cheznie Vieira competed in the 120 lbs. bracket. She lost her first round match by pin to the eventual division champion, Meredith Greenslade of Clyde.

Vieira then lost a 10-0 decision in the consolation bracket first round to be eliminated. She ended her season with a 25-8 record.

Bulldog sophomore Rose Baxter wrestled in the 135 lbs. class. She was pinned in the first round by the eventual 135 bracket champion, junior El Tha of Lakewood.

MEDIA RELEASE__Thirty-six Ohio Northern student/athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in five winter sports for 2025-26.

The men's swimming and diving team and the women's basketball team led the list with 10 Academic All-OAC honorees each.

Northern's men's basketball team had seven honorees, the wrestling team had five honorees and the women's swimming and diving team had four.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.50.

TROY __The Ada High School wrestling team had four grapplers compete in the Div. III Northwest wrestling district tournament at Troy’s Hobart Arena on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.

Graham Local dominated to win the district team crown with 257.5 points. Versailles was a distant second with 108.5 points. Indian Lake (98) nosed out Miami East and West-Liberty Salem, who tied for fourth (96.5), and LCC (92.5).

The Bulldog wrestlers finished 32nd at the 63-team tournament with 15 points.

WAPAKONETA__The Ada High School boys basketball team had its season ended by top-ranked power Marion Local 52-23 in Div. VI district final play on Friday, March 6 at Wapakoneta.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs finished their strong season 17-8 with the defeat.

Ranked first in the state for Div. VI, ML improved to 23-1 after the convincing victory and advanced to the regional semifinals on March 7.

MEDIA RELEASE__Austin Veltman will step down as the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach after a successful eight-year run at Ohio Northern.

Veltman guided the men's squad to a 44-20 record and the women's team to a 33-36 mark in his seven seasons as head coach of the Polar Bears.

The season, the ONU men's team won its 13th Ohio Athletic Conference crown in school history and posted a perfect 8-0 record (4-0 OAC), while the women went 3-5 overall (2-2 OAC) and finished third at the OAC Championships.
