VAN BUREN__The Ada High School wrestling team finished sixth at the 10-team Blanchard Valley Conference championship tournament hosted by Van Buren on Saturday, February 21.
The host Black Knights won the league title with 150.5 points, followed by Elmwood and Liberty-Benton in a second-place tie (140.5). Ada scored a respectable 52 points.
The Bulldog matmen finished ahead of McComb, Riverdale, Pandora-Gilboa and North Baltimore.
The Bulldogs had seven wrestlers compete in 14 weight class flights, six of whom placed in the top four.
AKRON __The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team won its 13th league crown in school history after claiming the 2026 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship title on Saturday.
AKRON — Senior Nathan Clark (Cleves/Elder) won the 100 breast title and Ohio Northern set a school record in the 200 medley relay to lead the men's swimming and diving team on the third day at the 2026 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Friday.
BOWLING GREEN__The Ada High School swim team had two swimmers compete in the Div. II Northwest district meet at Bowling Green State University on Friday, February 20.
Ada junior Jacob Szippl finished 12th amid the 32-swimmer field in the boys 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.12.
Szippl also touched 13th out of 32 swimmers in the boys 100 freestyle with a time of 51.36.
Senior Lydia Demascio took 21st out of 32 swimmers in the girls 100 backstroke with a time of 68.33. She came in 32nd in the girls 100 freestyle (61.73).
LEIPSIC__The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team raced to a big early lead and dominated Leipsic 71-37 in a Blanchard Valley Conference mismatch to end the regular season strong on Friday, February 20.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead 24-10 after the first period as senior Gavin Oldfield pumped in eight points. Blake Zoladz added seven markers.
Ada senior Zack Zimmerman poured in 14 of his game-high 25 points in the first half. For the game, he sank four triples and 10 field goals. Zimmerman tallied nine points in the second quarter as Ada ballooned their lead to 42-16 at halftime.
