ONU junior Emily Hershberger (Jackson Township/Jackson) has been named the Women's Lacrosse Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her efforts on the field last week. The All-OAC honoree earned the honor for the first time in her career.

Hershberger led the defensive unit for ONU with 15 ground balls in Northern's contests against Carthage (Wis.), Sewanee (Tenn.) and Cleary (Mich.).

The junior also forced eight turnovers and won six draw controls to lead ONU.

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) was named 1st Team All-Great Lakes Region in men's basketball for 2018 in voting conducted by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Bruns was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year earlier this season.

He was second on the team, third in the OAC and 12th nationally in scoring at 24.0 ppg this year.

The Ohio Northern baseball team swept Mt. St. Joseph 4-2, 6-5 in its final two contests of  the RussMatt Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Auburndale, Fla.

The Polar Bears improve to 7-3 overall, while the Lions fall to 6-3.

Junior pitcher Austin Frey (Peoria, Az./Sunrise Mountain) led Northern in the game one victory, pitching a complete game and striking out five batters in the victory.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team posted victories over Rowan (N.J.) (4-2) and McDaniel (Md.) (3-2) on Saturday afternoon to wrap up its spring break trip in Kissimme, Fla. on Saturday afternoon at the Sunkissed Games.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-2 after a successful spring break, while the Profs fall to 6-2 and the Green Terror drop to 1-5.

ONU sophomore Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) posted a hat trick to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 victory over NAIA-foe Cleary (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 1-4.

McArn had a team-best three goals and four draw controls and picked up a game-best six ground balls in the victory.

As a team, the Polar Bears finished third with 30 points, the highest NCAA Championships finish in school history.

ONU Senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) won titles in the 800-meter and mile runs and was All-American with a third place finish in the 3,000-meter run on the second day of the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Birmingham Cross Plex.

As a team, the Polar Bears finished third with 30 points, the highest NCAA Championships finish in school history.

Richards started the day by winning the mile in 4:51.24, cruising to the victory by 1.52 seconds. She is now a two-time champion in the event indoors and a 3-time champion overall.
