RIDGEWAY - The Ada boys basketball team tipped off the Dre White era successfully with a 51-45 victory at non-league county rival Ridgemont Friday night in the season opener.
The Bulldogs broke away from a 22-18 halftime lead with a 13-4 run to start the second half, then held off a late Golden Gopher rally to win the first game of new coach White's tenure.
Senior wing Jordan Bailey came off the bench to lead Ada with 13 points and nine rebounds. Senior post Owen Conley contributed 11 points and nine caroms. Senior guard Seth Evans added nine points.
The Ohio Northern women's soccer team saw three members earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region honors for the 2016 season.
Seniors Shelby Stephens (Cypress, Tex./Woods), Michaela Gutierrez (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), and Missy Ward (Columbus/Westerville North) each earned All-Region honors.

Junior Maddie Gossard led the Lady Bulldogs (1-0) with a varsity career-high 21 points. Classmate guard Teara Coulson contributed a dozen markers, and each canned a pair of three-point field goals.
The Lady Hornets fell to 0-3 with the loss in their home opener.
The Bulldogs rolled to a 30-9 halftime lead, then cruised to victory with 34 second half markers.
Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) has been named the women's basketball Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 14-19. Lauck led the Polar Bears to a 3-0 week to open the 2016-17 campaign.
The senior led Northern in scoring in both contests at the Denison Tip-Off Tournament this weekend and was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. Lauck posted a game-high 18 points in a 56-44 victory over Denison and added a career-best five steals in the contest. Lauck also scored a career-high 21 points in a 69-46 victory over Mount St. Joseph.
A school record 14 Ohio Northern players were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in football for 2016 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.
Seniors Reed Allen (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne), Scott Rapps (Bay Village/Bay) and Logan Ray (Van Wert), junior Zach Schmerge (Wapakoneta), sophomore Joe French (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) and freshman Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) were all selected as First Team honorees.
