Face coverings required this fall for indoor events at ONU
The Ohio Northern University Board of Trustees endorsed a safety plan to resume in-person education for the fall semester during its June 24 meeting.
The 13-page document covers a wide range of general requirements. Some of those include that faculty, students and staff, guests, visitors, vendors and contractors are required to wear face coverings while indoors in campus buildings.
Faculty, students and staff are encouraged to wear face coverings in outdoor settings where safe social distancing is not possible.
The document also addresses such areas as hygiene, distancing, screening, cleaning and disinfection, reducing density, communal and informal space, calendar, residence halls and apartments in addition to other situations.
The plan will continue to be reviewed and fine-tuned with guidance from federal and state governments and the local health dept.
The guideline’s opening statement reads:
“We recognize that no university, nor any other organization, can guarantee an environment free of COVID-19, and we expect everyone associated with the University to understand that there is a risk of contracting the virus here or anywhere. Nonetheless, our highest priority is the health, safety and well-being of every member of the ONU community. To manage the COVID-19 risk factors and resume in-person education, ONU will take full advantage of the unique benefits of our size, location and expertise.”
