Ada baseball loss at Wildcats

KENTON – The visiting Ada baseball team lost 6-3 to county rival Kenton on a cool Thursday evening, May 8.
Ada tied it up 1-1 in the third inning, and led 3-2 after tallying two more runs in the fifth.
But Kenton knotted it up 3-3 with a run in the fifth.
The host Wildcats then untied it by authoring a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to win the game. Jayden Mustain drilled the key go-ahead RBI double as Kenton surged in front, 4-3.
Dawson Miller followed with a two-run single to help the Wildcats extend the final lead to 6-3.
“We played well enough to win,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We just need to get that big hit when we really need it.”
Ada dropped to 4-15 with the defeat. Kenton improved to 3-11 after the victory.
The Bulldogs were out-hit 10-1 by the Wildcats, but drew seven walks.
The Bulldogs made no errors, while Kenton committed one. The Wildcats coaxed three walks.
Miller finished with three runs batted in and two singles. Mustain doubled, scored once and drove in a run.
Grady Kleman-Beazley compiled three runs, two triples and a walk. Gavin Scott scored once and singled. Amiel Huff stole two bases, scored once and singled. Dylan Searson drew a walk.
Kleman-Beazley pitched the first five innings and struck out nine while issuing six free passes. He allowed just one hit and one earned run.
Miller struck out five Bulldogs with two innings of hitless relief to earn the victory.
Catcher Andrew Allen drove in one run for Ada. Shortstop Levi Green scored twice, doubled and stole two bases. Center fielder Kaine Fisher walked, swiped a base and scored the other run.
Freshman Thad Smith walked three times and stole four bases. Ada swiped eight bags on the night.
Ada reliever Brody Rister tossed two innings and surrendered three earned runs on five hits to suffer the loss on the mound.
Wes Mowery hurled four innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits. He struck out three.
The Bulldogs left six runners on base, while Kenton stranded seven.
Ada is scheduled to host Temple Christian (1-8) Tuesday, May 13 and entertain Columbus Grove (9-9) May 15.
