1945 NEWS ACCOUNT
In August 1945, Charles A. Patterson sold the Patterson Newsstand, just south of the railroad, to Otho Moore. Originally, the newsstand was in the room now occupied by the Fisher barber shop, but when the north room was vacated seven years ago by the Danner barber shop, Patterson took over that location and the rear of the south room. The newsstand, was started by Patterson and James Allcroft in 1921, and Patterson purchased Alcroft’s share. C.F. “Dad” Allonas later bought the business and operated it about eight years, Patterson taking over in 1930. He has run it continuously for fifteen years. Mr. Moore will take over on October 1, 1945. The business is to be known as Moore’s News Stand.
