In 1986, Rodney Dangerfield starred in the movie Back to School about a self-made millionaire who decided to attend college at the same time his son was in college. This American comedy grossed over 91 million dollars in the United States during the year. In a funny way, the movie discusses the issues of going back to school and difficulties that can arise. 

FROM ONU.EDU/NEWS__Ohio Northern University inducted four accomplished individuals into the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony and luncheon held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025. Inductees were Larry Cole, Alison (Steinbrunner) Kwiat, PharmD ’15, Stephan “Steve” Vagedes, BS ’02, and Tamika Washington, BA ’01.

ARLINGTON__The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost a tough four-set bout to Arlington in a Blanchard Valley Conference match on Wednesday, September 17.

Ada dropped game one yet evened the match with a second-set win. But a close overtime loss in game three tipped the momentum in favor of the hosts, who closed it out in four.

The Bulldog girls dropped to 10-3 overall and 2-3 in the BVC after the 25-20, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21 road defeat. 

The Red Devils improved to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the BVC with the home win.

FINDLAY__The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost 5-1 at Liberty-Benton in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match on Wednesday, September 17.

Ada fell to 9-2-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the rugged NCOSA after the defeat.

Defending North Central Ohio Soccer Association co-champion Liberty-Benton improved to 6-4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league standings with the victory.

Eagles Kylie Modd and Piper Ogden each scored two goals to pace the victors. Ally Ferris added the other L-B goal.

FROM FACEBOOK__The Ada High School boys soccer team will take on Kenton in "309 Cup" competition at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, September 21.

The soccer stadium is home to the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. Admission is free.

Ada Schools have provided the following information regarding attendance, parking and security.

  • There is garage parking closer to the stadium entrance (paid, red on map) and free parking in the lot behind (gold star on map)
  • Gates open at 6, please enter at West lobby (green X on map), match at 6:30 p.m.
  • Admission is free, seating will be in sections 116-118
  • Guests will go through security, see https://lowerfieldcbus.com/a-z-guide/ for more info on stadium guidelines
  • Concessions will not be open, so you may bring small snacks and sealed plastic bottles.

FROM FACEBOOK__Buckeye East Coffee Shop, 123 East Buckeye Ave., has announced transition hours for the week of September 16 and beyond.

This week the coffee shop will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Starting Monday, September 22, new hours will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Seniors play final home match on Sept. 22

BLUFFTON__The Ada High School boys golf team swept a Blanchard Valley Conference tri-match over Pandora-Gilboa and Arlington at the Bluffton Golf Club on Monday, September 15.

The Bulldogs totaled 192 strokes, followed by the Red Devils (198) and Rockets (211), to win the event.

“Ada’s 192 total was our season-best, even playing one player short,” said Bulldog head coach Tod Schmidt. “Hopefully, we continue to play better and finish the season strong.

“We are making progress,” he added.

ADA __The Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting Elmwood in a Blanchard Valley Conference match on Monday, September 15.

The Bulldog girls dropped to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in the BVC after suffering just their second defeat.

The Royals improved to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in BVC play with the 25-19, 25-18, 27-25 road win.

Junior setter Jaylin St. Laurent passed out 10 assists, made eight digs and served up three aces.
