FROM FACEBOOK__The second annual Ohio Bigfoot Jamboree is coming to Ada’s War Memorial Park on Saturday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The event is coordinated by Ada’s Jay Wolber and Justin England, who host the Cryptids of the Corn podcast. Veterans of the Bigfoot event circuit, the duo created the Ohio Bigfoot Jamboree in 2024.

“Head, shoulders, knees and toes” is a children’s song first recognized in 1912 that is used globally to teach children the various body parts. Different versions of the nursery rhyme have been sung with the lyrics matched up to London Bridge is Falling Down and Frère Jacques. 

As we age, many of our body parts can develop arthritis with our knees often being very susceptible to the condition. About 20% of the United States population over the age of 45 years has been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis. The condition is more likely to start in the 5th and 6th decades of life.  

OCT 1 MEDIA RELEASE__On September 29, 2025 the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, with assistance from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the US Post Office, confiscated one kilo of fentanyl as part of an ongoing investigation.

This investigation is ongoing with indictments expected to be presented to an Allen County Grand Jury at a later date.

ARCADIA__The visiting Ada High School volleyball team defeated Blanchard Valley Conference foe Arcadia in four sets on Wednesday, October 1.

The Bulldog girls won the first two sets, narrowly dropped the third and then closed it out convincingly by taking a decisive fourth set. 

Winning a close second game in overtime set the purple and gold up to capture the match as they went up 2-0.

Ada improved to 14-6 overall and 3-4 in the BVC after the 25-9, 26-24, 23-25, 25-14 victory.

Arcadia dropped to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in BVC play with the defeat.

KALIDA__ The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team lost 3-1 to Kalida in a non-league makeup match on Tuesday, September 30.

The Bulldog boys record fell to 8-4-2 with the defeat. Kalida improved to 8-2-4 after the victory.

The game was added to the schedule to replace the vacated Allen East contest from early in the season.

“Kalida did a great job of attacking through the wide channels, consistently putting pressure on our outside backs with one v. one duels,” said Ada second-year head coach Aaron Acheson. 

George H. Henderson, age 95, of Ada, passed away on September 30, 2025 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.  

He was born on May 16, 1930 in Doylestown, Ohio to the late Walter R. and Dorothy (King) Henderson, Sr.  On March 4, 1972 George married Candace A. “Candy” Neff and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2023. 

George retired as a general painting contractor. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran and a member of the American Legion Post of Ada. George was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Findlay. 

FROM THE PARK BOARD__The Park District Liberty Twp Hardin Co Ohio met on [September 22, 2025] in the park office. Present were Bob Szuch, President Jamie Hall Commissioner, Paul Fletcher Commissioner, Ken Wolke Park Manager and Mary Jane Lee, Clerk. 

Jamie checked on getting the rubber mulch replaced at the  playground. The old mulch will be removed and new will be put down.

The architect for the new concession stand and the new shelter house was present and some final  revisions were made. The project is out for bids. 

OCT 1 MEDIA RELEASE__The Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call on October 1, 2025 at 00:03 hours regarding a stabbing incident in Mount Victory, Ohio.  

Responding Sheriff deputies arrived to find James Collins, 48, of Mount Victory in the street suffering from several stab wounds. Mr. Collins was treated by EMTs with Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Fire Department and he was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later. 

Suspect Andrew McCafferty, 46, of Mount Victory was taken into custody and charges are pending in connection with this incident. 

Assisting at the scene were Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Fire Department, Hardin County Prosecutor, Hardin County Coroner, and Route 31 Towing.
