OCT 29 MEDIA RELEASE__Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist International attended the Midwestern Region Fall Conference in Columbus on October 24-25 at El Dorado Gaming (Scioto Downs). Member clubs from Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio met with "DREAM BIG" as the conference theme.
Members met with old friends and new friends for a social hour. Clubs with fundraising projects shared their work and offered some of their projects for sale.

FROM BLUFFTONICON.COM AND THE BSC NEWSLETTER__Volunteers at the Bluffton Senior Center will start making its famous peanut brittle on Monday, November 3 at 8:00 a.m. and continue every Monday in November.
This is one of the center's biggest fundraisers of the year. It takes around 30 volunteers to make the candy. Many hands make light work and more fun. New volunteers are always welcomed.

In 1973, the band Aerosmith, featuring lead singer Steven Tyler, released a rock ballad titled Dream On. The song appeared on their debut album, named after the group. In an interview, Steven Tyler shared that he would lie on the floor under the family piano listening to his classically trained father play music.
Tyler had composed the song by the age of 14. Dream On was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2018 and is listed in the top 500 greatest songs of all time.
The Ada High School football squad has three players on the 2025 All-Blanchard Valley Conference second team as voted by league coaches.
Senior wide receiver Gavin Oldfield was named to the BVC second team offense. He led Ada in receptions with 39 catches for 550 yards (14.1 ypc) and six touchdowns.
Senior linebacker Zack Zimmerman and senior defensive back Kayleb Hickman were also voted to the second team BVC defense.
Zimmerman led the BVC in total tackles with 115. He made 55 solo stops and had 60 assists. He added 18 receptions for 200 yards.
Ada ballots for the November 4 General Election include the opportunity to vote for four candidates running for four seats on the Village of Ada Council.
Council members Bob Simmons and Jeff Oestreich are not running for reelection, and their seats will open on January 1, 2026.
BLUFFTON ICON.COM__UPDATE 4:22 P.M. FROM AEP: The wind was causing some issues with overhead lines and crews have been assessing the area since yesterday. Today, they found the issue that caused the flickering lights for customers and made the necessary repairs to get the power back on. We understand that there is never a convenient time to experience power quality issues but know that our field personnel worked as quickly as they safely could to make repairs.
UPDATE 1:30 p.m. on October 29, the AEP website showed 863 customers affected. AEP estimates power restoration to all customers in the area by 4:30 p.m. 10/29
OCT 28 MEDIA RELEASE__In an effort to reduce serious and deadly crashes, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will join several other state transportation departments to mark Buckle Up Phone Down Day on Wednesday, October 29. This national effort aims to bring attention to two of the most common factors in deadly crashes each year.
"Drivers can protect themselves and those nearby by simply wearing a seatbelt and putting away their phones," said Governor Mike DeWine. "These small actions make a big difference because they vastly increase the odds of surviving a crash or preventing one in the first place."
