Pauline L. “Peg” Snyder, age 88, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at her son’s home in Lima, with her family by her side. 

She was born on January 4, 1937, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Wesley B. and Ida M. (Sweeney) Smith. On February 5, 1956, Peg married Donald E. Snyder and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2008.

OCT 16 MEDIA RELEASE__Hardin County Ohio State University Extension Educator Amanda Raines received the Mid-Career Service Award at the Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) National Conference in Fort Worth, Texas last week.

ADA __The Ada High School volleyball team lost a five-set battle to visiting Lima Central Catholic in their taut Div. VI sectional final bout on Thursday, October 16.

The Bulldog girls won the fourth set to tie the match 2-2 and force a decisive fifth game, but ultimately lost by a 25-18, 15-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-5 score. 

Ada ends its season with a 15-8 record after suffering the defeat. LCC improved to 13-9 with the victory.

Margaret Call Erbe, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio July 1, 1942, to the late Merner and Lois (ne Bennett) Call. Maggie displayed incredible talent and energy, which includes her time as a concert pianist in a professional orchestra as a child. Her passion for music, science, and spirituality, led to a life filled to the brim. She received a BA in Music History, an Associate's in Chemistry, and a Master of Divinity, across 3 different decades while birthing and raising her 10 children.

Two local entrepreneurs are establishing a grab-and-go food market at The Mezza at the Regal Beagle. Ang’s Amazing Graze and Circle U Waffle Co., which were established as catering and food truck services, are now joining forces in a brick-and-mortar shop at 105 N. Main Street, as well as with ticketed events at “The Beagle.”

3 Bulldogs 2nd team, 8 honorable mention

ADA__Ada High School junior scoring leader Andrew Allen was named first team All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association in boys soccer by the league coaches recently.

Allen has scored a team-high 25 goals and passed out five assists to pace the 11-4-2 Bulldogs with 55 points.

Junior goalkeeper Jacob Rush was one of three Ada players named second team all-conference. He has made 120 saves so far this season, a 7.1 average per match. Rush and the Ada defense have posted four shutouts this season.

7 Bulldog girls earn honors

ADA__Two players from the Ada High School girls soccer team were recently named first team All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

In all, seven Bulldog girls earned some form of all-league honors. Ada has posted a 12-4-2 mark this fall, setting a program record for wins in a season.

Ada junior scoring leader Kenley Poling was voted first team All-NCOSA. The forward has scored 16 goals and passed out six assists for 38 points.
