A Pew Research Center study found 90% of U.S. adults use smartphones, which translates to 293 million people. This number has more than doubled since 2011. The study recorded a 97% use of smartphones by adults age 18 to 29 years old. The Pew research reported that 15% of adults are smartphone dependent, meaning they do not subscribe to high-speed internet, but rely on their phones.
OCT 15 MEDIA RELEASE__On October 14, 2025, the Ada Police Department was notified by the Ohio Northern University Public Safety Department regarding a mass email distributed to university faculty and students by a former student.
Officers from the Ada Police Department reviewed the email and accompanying documentation and determined that no overt threats were made toward any individuals or groups. However, out of an abundance of caution, officers increased routine patrols on and around the university campus.
The Ada Police Department remains committed to working collaboratively with our public safety partners to ensure the continued safety and security of residents, students, and visitors within the Village of Ada.
The Village of Ada has announced, "There was an issue with an electrical line behind McDonald's that caught on fire, causing a power outage for many residents of the Village. We do not have an ETA on when power will be restored." AEP estimated restoration was 11:00 p.m.
FROM FACEBOOK__The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is investigating several reports of theft and vandalism in the Village of Alger. These criminal acts occurred in the early morning hours of 10/15/2025 [October 15, 2025].
One juvenile has been taken into custody as a result of the investigation.
Residents in the Alger area are encouraged to contact Deputy Caleb Meadows at 419-673-1268 ext 1422 if they have any information concerning this event or if they are victims of theft/ property damage.

OCTOBER 15 MEDIA RELEASE__The Ada School District is sponsoring a veterans’ breakfast on Tuesday, November 11. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m in the school cafeteria.
There will be a speaker and a brief presentation at 8:30 a.m.
We invite all veterans and their families, as well as active duty service personnel who live, work or worship within the boundaries of the Ada Exempted Village Schools to honor us with their presence on this day.

ADA__The Ada High School girls soccer team made a tie-breaking goal in the 72nd minute to hold off visiting Kalida 2-1 in a chippy sectional final at War Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, October 14.
Ada junior Kenley Poling converted the clutch winning goal from in front of the net, off a right side feed by Rose Baxter. When the Kalida keeper mishandled the pass, Poling pounced on the loose ball and hit the back of the net with 8:36 remaining, breaking a 1-1 tie.
The Bulldog girls improved to 12-4-2 with the hard-fought win. Upset-minded Kalida ended its season 5-11-1 after the loss.
OCT 14 MEDIA RELEASE__An Election Day Lunch will be held at Lafayette Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St., Ohio, 45854 as a fundraiser. All proceeds will go directly to Deanna Looney, a 2007 graduate of Allen East and a single mother to 14-year-old Hayden. Deanna has been undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, and she will be having her first major surgery in mid-November. After that, she will undergo another 2 surgeries.
Deanna is very grateful to everyone, especially for their prayers. Thank you in advance.
