Ada swimmers make a splash at OHSAA state meet
Swimmers on your mark!
Ada High School sent a contingent of swimmers to the OHSAA state swim meet this past weekend in Canton and returned home with impressive finishes including one third place finish and one fourth place finish.
State qualifiers were Matthew Wilcox, Karl Karcher, Jon Robey and Mitchell Wilcox.
The Ada team qualifiers participated in Division II at Canton. The four state swimmers qualified through competition at the Sectional at the Lima YMCA and District at Bowling Green State University.
The four qualified for state in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Ada’s medley relay finished 12th in the finals. The freestyle relay finished third, three-tenths of a second off second place. The third-place finish was in a time of 1:27.43.
Swimming in individual events were Matthew Wilcox, who finished fourth the 50 freestyle, and Jon Roby, who finished in a tie for 24th place in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the butterfly.
