Tristan Armbrecht has his sights set on breaking the Ada HS 1-mile track record
15 minutes with Tristan Armbrecht
Tristan, what year are you at Ada High School?
I’m a junior.
What classes are you taking this semester?
English, Art II, Astronomy, Government, French II and Integrated Math II.
Are you in any extra-curricular activities?
I run track and cross country.
I understand you play the guitar. Who’s your guitar idol?
Eddie Van Halen. I own his Greatest Hits Album from 2003-4. I suppose if I ever met him I’d ask what made him start playing the guitar.
What do you play?
A Dean acoustic guitar.
If you could have any guitar in the world, what would it be?
Probably a Fender Stratocaster, but that’s too much money for me.
What’s your favorite type of music?
Classic rock and heavy metal.
Describe your locker?
It’s blank…clean. I like to be organized.
What’s the most recent movie you’ve seen and how would you rate it?
Act of Valor. I’d give it a 4 out of 5.
How about a movie that you’d really like to have your money back?
(Pause) Jack and Jill. It was really stupid. I watched it last year. About half way through it we stopped it and never watched the ending.
Tell me about your cross country and track experience. What events do you focus on?
I run the mile and two mile. My personal best in the one mile is 4:54. In the two it’s 10:58. Last year as a sophomore I qualified for regional’s in the one mile last year. I was really nervous as a sophomore at regionals. But now I know what it’s like, I think I can do better than last year. I’d really like to break the school record in the mile. It’s 4:30.
Why do you do long distances?
I can hold out longer.
Tell me what your latest art project is all about.
I’m working on a cardboard project. It’s about 3 by 3 feet. I’m making a band member, Alex Koehler, who is a singer for Chelsey Grin. It’s a two-dimensional piece. I’ll probably finish it tomorrow.
What do you like about art?
I like to use my imagination.
Are you a lunch packer or buyer?
I’m a packer. I usually have a lunchmeat sandwich and chips.
Well, good luck in track and art, I’ll let you get back to class.
