Ada Board of Education approves waiver of school fees for 2025-2026

The Ada Board of Education held its monthly meeting on Monday,  June 30 with all board members present: Troy Erickson (president), Ron Fleming, Matt Gossman, Ted Griffith and Justin Hollon.

Among action items was the waiver of school fees for the 2025-2026 school year. The item passed with board member Ted Griffith voting no. This is the second year the board has waived student fees.

Representing the Ohio School Board Association, Heather Franks presented a certificate to Matt Gossman for his 10 years of service on the board.

High School Principal Dan Lee and Facilities Maintenance Coordinator Lance Dearth provided updates for the board. 

Superintendent Julie Simmons told the board that the sixth grade will officially be part of the middle school next year. 

The board approved the financial report from Treasurer Kim Light, who noted that “most numbers are under where we expected them to be.” Documents for the report are provided through the school website and included Balance of Funds and 2024-2025 Donations.

CONSENT AGENDA

The board approved consent agenda items A-N which included

  • Certified and classified substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Volunteer drivers for the 2024-2025 school year
  • Volunteer drivers for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Salary adjustments for certified contracts for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Academic supplemental contract(s) for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Athletic supplemental contract(s) for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Payment of stipends to the following classified staff
  • Cafeteria suppliers for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Recognized sports for the 2025-2026 school year
  • Changes to the 2025-2026 student handbook
  • Retirement of a classified employee

The board entered an executive section to discuss employment with no action expected.

The next board of education meeting will be on July 17 at 6:00 p.m.
