COLUMBUS - Ada junior Nora Dellifield finished 12th in the pole vault at the Div. III state track and field meet in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Friday at Columbus.
Dellifield cleared 9-6 and 10-0 in the first two rounds Friday. But she came up just short in three attempts to surpass 10-6.
Freshman Kenna Stimmel of Margaretta won the girls pole vault title with a best effort of 13-0.25.
Dellifield is the first Ada girl to ever make it to the state meet in the pole vault. She finished ahead of six competitors in the 18-girl field.

ADA - The Ada tennis team held its spring post-season awards banquet at the school cafeteria Thursday, May 30.
Several special awards were handed out by first-year head coach Cody Hurley, who led the team to a 14-5 record this spring.
Two players received the Silver Racket Award, given to players who earned at least a 3.75 grade point average and a second or third letter.
Juniors Hunter Wells and Isaac Spar earned this honor.
Senior Cade Mullins, class of 2019 co-valedictorian, was given the Gold Racket Award for earning a fourth letter and a 4.0 GPA. He also served as the team captain.

TIFFIN - Four Ada track and field athletes competed in day two of the Div. III regional meet at Tiffin's Hoernemann Stadium Friday evening, with one making it to the state meet.
Bulldog junior Nora Dellifield advanced to Columbus by finishing fourth in the pole vault Friday. She is the first Ada girl to ever make it to the state meet in the pole vault.
In other Bulldog finals Friday evening, Ada senior Noah Mattson finished ninth in the shot put, while junior Philip Gautier came in 12th in the high jump. Senior Miguel Jordan ended up 14th in the 800 meters.
The Ohio Northern women ended fourth while the Polar Bear men finished fifth in their respective 2018-19 Ohio Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy races, the league office announced Monday night.
In the women's race, the Polar Bears compiled 68.25 points for the fourth-place finish, just 0.5 points outside the top-three programs.
Otterbein claimed the institution's first OAC All-Sports Trophy with 78.25 points behind conference titles in cross country, soccer, indoor track and field, and softball. Meanwhile, Mount Union ended a close second with 76.25 points, and Baldwin Wallace took home third with 68.75 points.
ADA — Ohio Northern senior Mitch Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) has been selected to play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior All-Star Game on Friday, May 24 at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.
Groves is the first Ohio Northern player and is believed to be only the second players from the Ohio Athletic Conference to play in the annual event.
The Division III game will be at 5 pm and the Division I/II game will follow at 7:30 pm at Tierney Field. Admission is free and Lax Sports Network will stream both contests.

TIFFIN - One of five Ada track and field regional qualifiers competed in day one of the Div. III meet at Tiffin's Hoernemann Stadium Wednesday evening.
Bulldog junior Alex Morgan finished 14th in the 300 hurdle preliminaries to miss out on regional finals qualification Friday. Bluffton's Xavier Dunifon finished first in the 300 hurdle prelims.
