This past week, I visited Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to speak with our congressional delegates and attend the American Hospital Association annual meeting. Throughout the week, several congressional representatives spoke from both sides of the aisle on healthcare through deep, rich, and strongly opinionated conversations. In the end, more discussions are needed and, as with any good resolution, both parties need to listen and find balance.

The community may notice a measurable increase in Hardin County Community Foundation grants awarded versus our announcement of available funds in February. After the announcement to award $227,000 in grants this spring, the Board of Trustees revisited our allocation methodology that we have used since inception of the foundation and decided to make a revision. The resulting change in available funds increased by $140,000 to $367,000.

April 24, 2025__Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools in modern medicine to protect newborns and children from serious infectious diseases. Through widespread immunization programs, the global health community has made tremendous strides in reducing and, in some cases, eradicating life-threatening illnesses that once claimed the lives of millions. Immunizing newborns and children safeguards individual health and supports broader public health goals.

Liberty Township Residents,

The upcoming May election has the 2nd request for approval of a 1 mill replacement levy for operating expense for Liberty Township. Our main expenses deal with the upkeep and maintenance of 6 cemeteries totaling 27 acres and 23 miles of township roads. This levy would generate an additional $30, 015 for the township.

From Rev. Brandi Grant-Rigsby and Ada First UMC 10-Year Anniversary Planning Team

Greetings,

“We are the church, you are the church. We are the church together!”

Can you believe it will soon be 10 years that we have been in our current church building? A decade of Sunday services, baptisms, weddings, memorial services, potlucks, meetings, missions, and Sunday school classes!

A little history—Methodism originated in Ada in 1852 with a few settlers who began a class meeting in an old school house on Main Street and Montfort Avenue. In 1861, the Methodists assisted the Presbyterians in building the old Presbyterian Church and they worshipped together!
