ONU hosts Last Chance Invitational Saturday, Women's track and field looks strong

This Weekend's Preview: The No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the Polar Bear Last Chance Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University ... As the last regular season meet of the indoor season before the NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships, athletes will look to qualify for the national meet in Naperville, Ill. ... Junior Emily Richards posted a historic performance as she became the first female athlete in OAC history to win the 800-meter run, 1-mile run and 1,000-meter run in the same meet ... The junior was named OAC Female Distance Athlete of the Year for her performance ... Sophomore Maddy Reed claimed Female Field Athlete of the Year after she became the first female athlete in OAC history to clear four meters or higher and set the OAC record and broke her own previous school record en route to winning the pole vault title ... Junior Rebecca Olashuk had an impressive performance in the weight throw as she set an Ohio Northern school record with a toss of 53' 5.00", breaking an eight year old school record ... Sophomore Ashlie Baumann claimed the OAC Title in the 5,000-meter run, finishing first in 18:26.63 ... In the 55-meter hurdles, senior Allie Gast was named OAC Champion, winning the event in :8.50 ... In the triple jump, senior Kelsey Commager was named the OAC Champion with a winning leap of 37' 2.50".
