First United Methodist will conduct drive-thru Ash Wednesday service
First United Methodist Church will conduct a drive-thru Ash Wednesday service as it did last year, according to Rev. Brandi Rigsby, pastor.
This year Ash Wednesday is March 6. It marks the beginning of the Lenten season.
“Last year the congregation hosted a drive-thru Ash Wednesday service, and over 65 people participated in the imposition of ashes,” she said.
“We will, once again, host a drive-thru Ash Wednesday service that allows many to receive ashes and a blessing, who otherwise would not be able to attend a traditional Ash Wednesday service.”
Pastor Rigsby and others from the congregation will offer a scripture reading, imposition of ashes, and a blessing under the church’s drive-thru canopy on Highland Street.
The drive-thru imposition of ashes will be offered from 7:30 - 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., and 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
