Electrophysiology lab opens at Mercy Health - St. Rita’s Medical Center
Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center has added a new tool to expand the treatment of heart disease with the opening of a new Electrophysiology Lab.
Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center was the first area hospital to perform minimally invasive transaortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures in 2018.
With the addition of the new lab – dedicated primarily to electrophysiology (EP) procedures – St. Rita’s team providers have the ability to perform EP procedures five days a week.
The new lab was designed using the latest technology, including the Phillips Azurion Imaging System. This system increases the safety of our patients and helps to optimize lab performance by helping physicians perform procedures more consistently and efficiently. By using the newest in x-ray equipment, St. Rita’s is able to achieve high quality imaging with the lowest radiation dose for a comprehensive range of clinical procedures.
Additionally, St. Rita’s invested in other equipment, including a nurses’ “workmate scribe,” which provides efficient and comprehensive data management. This technology allows the nurses to do efficient monitoring of the patient data and accurate charting without disrupting the flow of the clinical procedure.
