22,020 books and counting
They are reading up a storm at the Ada elementary school this week, as its spring read-a-thon is underway.
Here are classroom results from the first week.
• 513 books read by Kindergarten, first and second graders
• 21,507 books read by third, fourth and fifth graders
If you examine the accompanying photo, you'll notice a mustache-growing event as part of this – and you may ask your elementary students to explain.
The read-a-thon also has a fundraiser element. Students are earning money for the Ada Food Pantry.
A $3,500 goal is part of this portion of the read-a-thon. See an Ada K-5 student to contribute to that goal.
