Bulldog baseball out-slugs Lima Temple Christian

LIMA__The visiting Ada High School baseball team rode a big first inning to a 14-7 win at non-league foe Lima Temple Christian on Tuesday, May 12.
The Bulldogs poured six runs across home plate in the top of the first inning to seize control early, and they never trailed.
Ada tallied a run in the second before LTC tallied two runs in the home second. The Bulldogs surged back in front 11-2 behind a four-run top of the fourth.
After plating three runs in the fifth, Ada led 14-5 heading to the sixth. Temple tallied two runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut the final margin of defeat to seven.
The Bulldogs out-hit the Pioneers, 12-8. Ada drew four walks and capitalized on six errors to score five unearned runs.
Ada improved to 8-13 overall after the road win. LTC dropped to 0-9 after the home defeat.
“The boys are playing well, and tonight we played well in all three phases,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “I am very pleased with how it went.”
Bulldog senior Mason Wibley hurled five innings to secure the win. He allowed five hits and three earned runs. He struck out five and walked three.
He also aided his own cause on offense as Wibley slugged two doubles, singled, drove in four runs and scored twice.
Shortstop Andrew Allen slapped three singles, scored three runs, had one RBI and stole two bases.
Second baseman Thad Smith hit a single, walked once and scored three runs. Center fielder Jacob Szippl hit two singles, drove in a pair of runs and scored once. He also swiped two bags.
Bulldog catcher Robert Shanks singled home two runs and scored twice. Third baseman Wes Mowery hit a single, walked and scored two runs.
Ada first baseman Xavier Smith smacked a two-run single. Right fielder Colt Archer walked and scored one run.
Bulldog Gavin Guyton pitched the last two innings in relief. He permitted three hits and two earned runs.
The Bulldogs drew four walks and issued three bases on balls. One Ada error helped lead to two TC runs.
Pioneer Levi Williams stroked two doubles and had one RBI. Braxton Hoover doubled in two runs. Clay Sawmiller also hit two singles and scored a run with one RBI.
Williams took the pitching loss after hurling 3.7 innings. He allowed seven hits and four earned runs. He struck out four and walked one.
TC left four runners on the basepaths, while Ada stranded just two.
