FINDLAY __The improved Ada High School boys golf team finished a strong second in the first Blanchard Valley Conference Shootout tournament at the Findlay Country Club on Monday, August 3.

The Bulldog linksters shot 379 to finish behind only BVC team champion Van Buren, which posted a 326 total. The powerhouse Black Knights boasted four of the top six individual scorers in the tourney.

Ada nosed out Elmwood (382) by three strokes to secure second place.

“Back-to-back second place finishes in big tournaments is pretty unprecedented,” said second-year Ada head coach Tod Schmidt. “This makes our record 14-2 overall so far this season.

“We were a solid second behind Van Buren,” noted Schmidt.

Ada sophomore Arden Shook tied for second overall individually with Elmwood’s Zechariah Patterson. He led the Bulldog players with an 18-hole round of 82 to post a personal-best round and finish.

VB’s Jake Schroeder claimed tournament medalist honors with a round of 77.

Ada senior Brody Rister posted a 93 to place second for the Bulldogs and finish just outside the top 10.

Teammate Gavin Guyton carded a round of 101, while freshman Brooklyn Rister was the fourth Ada scorer at 103.

Senior Lawson Klingler totaled a 104 round, and junior Max Baumgartner added a 106 count.
